The existing 5ep chino is pretty nice - not super slim cut but beautifully made.

The Bill's Khakis M2 is pretty nice.

There were a bunch of Incotex "chino lino" at NM Last Call outside of Dallas last week, in khaki, stone and light blue. There were really nice - the cotton, the cut (slim) and the construction. They were $100 even, but not a pair in my size.

I'm not sure its the best alternative, but Polo makes their Prospect chino that is available in their custom fit which is slim.

Margiela broken twill fall chinos are always the best.

If you are ever in the Boston area, Alan Bilzerian occasionally has some self-brand chinos that are terrific. Otherwise, it is sometimes possible to find some secondhand at one of the consignment stores on Newbury street. I like Margiela chinos as well, but lately, Margiela prices have skyrocketed. I used to see the heavy leather versions of his rider jacket for $895 retail at Barneys, and shirts used to be in the $150-$200 range. Sigh

I still find his prices reasonable as compared to the garbage department store brands like etro, gucci, etc.

I bought some Trovata chinos last year for under $100 each on sale. They're cut low, slightly slim, and straight leg. I'm beginning to really like them lately. They fit me just right, without being too tight or too loose. Lots of interesting little details too.
