I’m trying to choose between several, and I don’t have a chance to compare all of them directly, so any insight would be greatly appreciated!
The options I’ve identified are (1) High Performance (the 200g version), (2) Trofeo 600 Summer (190g w. 15%silk), and (3) the fabrics in the 2019 Spring Summer book on page 51 (wool, 200g – the page is labelled Trofeo 600, but that seems to be an error since there’s no silk, which the 600 refers to).
(My question would become a lot easier if I added number 4, the fabric called Lightweight, with 30% silk. But for various reasons I don’t want that.)
Both number 1 and number 2 come in slightly different versions, with slightly different breathability. Regarding number 1, I’m intersted in both versions, and regarding number 2, the better breathing version.
I orginally thought this was also an easy choice. I noticed that the second and third fabrics do not breath nearly as well as my High Performance suits, so I was sure I should just get another one – until I noticed that the new High Performance fabrics also don’t breath nearly as well as my suits. (Do they lose fibers and get thinner with age? Maybe, but if so, then because my pants get a lot more use and cleaning than my jackets, I should see a difference, and I don’t (ignoring the parts of the pants that get the most abuse). )
By the way, one way which I’ve found pretty reliable for comparing breathability of wool fabrics is holding them in front of your eyes and seeing how well you can see through them. The more light gets through, the more breathable it is.
Anyway, any insight into this would be greatly appreciated!
