my vote's on the second pair. i like the distance between the toe, and where the laces begin, better than the first pair.

I'm sure some folks will disagree with me because "OMG, teh w0rkwearz iss sooooooooo kewl," but I don't really like either. They're clunky, the leather looks cheap, the stitching is busy, and there are some weird toe-to-lacing issues.

If you have nothing like either pair, then I'd go with the second because it's probably going to work with a greater variety of clothes. I, however, would buy the first pair because my boot collection is sorely lacking some nice monkey boots.

Are these black or navy? Who makes them?

Probably #2 as #1 would make your toes look shorter. This maybe depends on how big your feet are (i.e. whether you want to make them look smaller/bigger), but I like the lacing on #2 better.

Yeah, the second pair. I feel like if you have to ask whether or not you should get the first pair, you shouldn't, you'd need a pretty solid vision to pull the first pair off I think.
