Yes I will second the IWC Portuguese Automatic...not really a sports watch but I own one in gold with the off white face and it is lovely...although it is quite a bit more expensive then the watchs the OP listed.

112 or 176. As observed, the 112 in SS is a little "blingier" wereas the 176 is a little more subdued (I was going to say stealthy but it's still a big piece.) Just a personal preference. Many people overlook the versatility of Panerai. The ability to quickly and easily change straps can take the same watch from the beach to the board room.

ended up buying a PAM 164 today. thanks everyone for the ideas - ultimately, I liked the fact that the 164 was steel, with the brushed case and the polished bezel. was so close to buying the GMT II, but in the end, my giant wrists were dying for a pam...

Great watch. I would have gone with the GMT myself, but I think that suits me better than the PAM.
