I wore sneakers and a hoodie on my first date with my wife. It was a bit of an experiment 'cause normally I would wear a sport's coat and oxfords. She stuck around ayway. I'm not sure the particular type of sneaker had any effect on the outcome of the date though. But I'd never wear athletic kicks to anything but the gym.
