Which things do you look at when choosing a shirt?

What I look:

1- Collar size (not too small)

2- Collar shape: wide or narrower (I don't like collar to be too wide and heavy, and don't mind it narrow since I don't wear ties)

3- Collar square or pointed (not sure about pointed ones)

4- Collar angle normal or open

5- That it's fitted or slim-fit (don't like regulars)

6- Fabric type and thickness (I usually prefer thin fabrics)

7- Colour (and patterns: squares, etc...)

8- Length (I prefer them shorter: a bit below the waist. That's because I often wear them untucked)

9- Pockets (in general I like them better without pockets)

What I don't look but perhaps I should:

10- cuff size

11- Sleeve's length

Any other thing you happen to consider when buying shirts?

Seriously - read the forum and use the search function.

Your nonsensical posts are easily covered 1,000 times on here, many of which are answered by simply scrolling through the first page of forum topics.

I've used the search function and found no thread that covers the topic as I've presented it. (link if otherwise). I've made a quick list of things one examines when buying shirts.

I really don't see the nonsensical quality of my post. Please explain.

I just searched for "what to look for in a shirt"

The first result, post #5 gives a link to a blog post regarding how a shirt should fit - answering #s 5, 8, 10 and 11 on your post. Literally took me 30 seconds. Here's the thread: http://www.styleforum.net/t/353535/bespoke-shirt-fitting-what-to-look-for

The rest of those are styling questions that come up constantly on here. In fact, if you spend 5 minutes casually browsing random threads, you'll see debates on one or two of those issues. A search will give you the rest.

Just because these topics haven't all been addressed in the same thread (which I'm sure they have), it doesn't mean that you're posting something novel.

If you really want to see thorough discussions of the stylistic options you're referencing, simple skim through the affiliate threads for various shirtmakers (Luxire, etc.). You'll see people debating all of these things before they place an order, and you'll see fit pics illustrating their choices.

ok, thanks for the link

Anyway, I was interested in what people (the rank and file people) actually do rather that on what they "should" do.

I want my tastes confirmed by somebody else

And is it really such a waste to make a new thread anyway? I'm just recapping information
