I only got an account because this was bugging the hell out of me. I have pants that look dark brown in some light and dark gray in other light. I'm thinking black shoes look bad with the brown and brown shoes look bad with the gray.

Last time I wore them with black shoes and black shirt but I've been second guessing it ever since.

Which color shoe would be safest to wear?

Allen Edmonds Shoes have a sample image showing how different colors and styles look with different pants. Go to www.allenedmonds.com and explore the shoes, and then choose the color for a sample look.

Darker browns would work reasonably well with darker grey or brown pants. Black would be a bit 'off' IMHO. I second the burgundy. Probably one of the more versatile colours...

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
