Which shade of brown to go with greys/blues/blacks?

I'm shopping around right now for a pair of brown leather boots to wear casually most of the time and when I go out to places like pubs at night. Most of the clothes I own are in shades of blue, grey or black. For pants, I wear jeans (dry and lighter colored), grey cords, wool dress pants etc. I have tshirts in a lot of colors. The polos I own are blue, navy, grey and olive (all by RL). The sweaters I own are light grey, charchol grey, black and navy. The jackets I own are black and grey.

Should I be looking at darker or lighter brown boots to best match what I own?

dark brown will be more versatile. Light brown has its place but can look more out of place than not. And esp for going out at nite, dark brown boots will look less pimptastic
