Which of these Ferragamos are more classy for formal events?

Neither of those are a "formal" shoe. What are you planning on wearing--suit, tuxedo?

There is a significant portion of the population of this country who think that anything but sandals and flipflops is "formal".

As mentioned, neither of these would be ideal if you are going to be wearing a suit. These would be okay for matching with chinos or something of a more "business casual" look. That said, I personally like the second shoe better. It looks more modern for a twenty year old.

Okay,

Let's just call it business casual then. Which one would you prefer for my age? Mostly these models are proper enough for birthday parties or fancy restaurants, but I would be very open to suggestions when it comes to formal shoes for let's say.. wedding

To be frank, I don't think many here (myself included) would call those bit-loafers tasteful. If you're gonna do a bit loafer, get the classic and original from Gucci.

As for what type of "business casual" footwear to get, it depends largely on the rest of your outfit. But it sounds like you don't have a good pair of dress shoes yet. Google "black captoe oxfords" and that should be what you aim for. Maybe dark brown would be more versatile, depending on your wardrobe.

Need to purchase by tomorrow evening and I am still undecided and I am just 20 years old. I need to get a formal pair for important occasions and I would be very open to outside suggestions. Maybe ranged at 500-700USD.

Hey Andrew, at that price point you can get yourself a pair of Edward Green shoes handmade in England. A much, much better shoe. Look into that!

Any reason you are set on bit loafers? An oxford, or even a derby/blucher, would be a much more "jack of all trades" shoe. A dark brown might also be a better starting point if this is your only "formal shoe". Also, unless you have your size nailed down on the lasts those are built on, there's a good change for fit issues (heel slip, etc). A laced shoe would be more forgiving in that respect as well.
As has been mentioned above, I think you can get a lot more shoe for your money if you're really looking in the $500 to $700 range.
