Which Leather is Best For Loafers?

Hey!

So summer is coming soon here in Australia and I want a nice pair of brown leather loafers. I’m looking at two loafers, one using normal Full Grain Cow leather and the other one using Calf Leather.

I’ve heard calf skin is “softer” in a way, so would that be better for loafers? What’s the cons and pros of each leather for a loafer?
Thanks

^ most leather shoes, at least those of bovine leather, are going to be calf. It’s softer and easier to work with, for the purpose of making a shoe. I’m not sure it’s unique to loafers.

A loafer can be unlined and therefore softer as a result and more appropriate for summer. The hide selection (which, from what part of the animal, etc.) as well as its preparation will also affect softness.

A casual loafer (unlined, worn sockless), I’d suggest suede. If dressier (lined), then either leather.
