Hey everyone,

I am looking to match a tie to wear with a white shirt, charcoal grey blazer and dark blue pants. I have bought a dark blue set of tie, cufflinks and pocket square. Nevertheless I am open to suggestions for other colours which might look better. Thanks in advance.

Almost any color. I would actually be careful of yellow depending on your complexion. Very fair complected people (myself included) often have trouble with yellow and orange. I love orange ties - but every time I put one on it doesn't place so nice with my skin tone.

Dark reds and dark blues are the safest zone to be in, and both will go great with charcoal and/or navy.

One note: Don't wear matching pocket square / tie / cufflink sets. By all means use the pieces separately, but matchy sets like that tend to look like they came out of a box - usually cause they did.

Blues, burgundy (my choice), reds. I also agree that lighter color ties go better with a bit darker skin tones and concur in regards to matching tie/square/links - they should compliment but not match.

While a dark blue or navy tie is usually quite a safe bet, there is a risk of clashing with the blue trousers. Rich colors are difficult to pair with other rich colors, and particularly since you said the jacket was charcoal, I'd recommend a lighter shade for the tie, preferably something with a pattern, or in a fabric that has some texture to it.

Any chance of posting a pic. Is it a solid dark gray or is there a pattern? What kind of fabric?
