Which color shirt/tie combo should I get for a black suit ?

no, this thread is about shirt and tie, not whether or not to get a black suit.

Get a classic white or light blue shirt. And a mid-blue or gold tie.

Depends on what he uses the suit for and his current shirts.

If you want something then the safe but always good options, in white or light blue, you could consider: pink/light lilac/green/ercu paired with a dark colour tie or red/blue/purple/etc in gingham/bengal stripe.

You know you won't get much love for a black suit on SF unless it's for a wedding or funeral.

I think they are best for a night out somewhere but not for business. Last time I had mine on it was with a dark lavender shirt and purple tie.
