1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

What they actually charge thousands of dollars for something like this?

Has to be worth 40 bucks at the most. Well you know what they say 'A fool and his money...'.

    George by WAL-MART.
I go there. I feel the fabric, it's awful. I look at the quality of the cut...it's awful. The weight of it...awful. I try it on. It fits me like a glove!

    Brioni.
I go there. I feel the fabric...I have felt nothing softer. The quality of the cut...artwork. The weight...like wearing nothing. I try it on. It doesn't look good on me....the cut doesn't suit my physique.

I ask a random person on the street. I am wearing George. She says I look good.

I ask the same random person on the street. I am wearing Brioni. She says I look ..."not so nice".

I am not sure whether to start laughing hysterically or to cry.

Or simply to just end it all.

OK - here is some of the controversial stuff - anyone who tries to sell OTR suits for over ~$2.5K. Why wouldn't you just go custom at that price point?

Related to the other polo clothing related threads - La Martina - they have real polo heritege, but mostly worn by eurotrash looking dudes. The only way you should be wearing it is if you own a couple of ponies.

I ventured in there a few times, thinking it might be good reading for weekend/casual dress. I stumbled on a thread where they were bragging about boots/shoes that cost in excess of $2k and were the biggest wastes of leather I'd ever seen. While I'm no animal rights activist, it actually made me a bit sad that animals died to make such hideous things.

+1 I remember venturing into the leather jacket thread mega thread thinking there would be good stuff and 95 percent of what was posted was so tight fitting they looked like wet suits

Yea, some of the more avant garde pieces can be just downright ugly, but there is some good advice as to fit/denim/proportions to be found on the other side.

LL Bean Signature - classic brand tries to go trendy. Just leave it alone and sell the basics.

Well, that's what happens when people start following FASHION. Fashion is about a designer at a show screaming, "Me, me!" Style is about a good tailor who knows it's all about you! Have you noted that with rare exceptions, designers never wear their own lines? London, Naples and Hong Kong, all of them.

I'm not really one for brands, but where I live everyone is wearing Fred Perry at the moment. I used to wear quite a bit FP but now everyone wears it it does my nut in. I hate people thinking I'm fashionable etc.

Howard Stern wears mostly John Varvatos (according to what he says on the air), so I guess that supports your assertion.

I wore Fred Perry before you were born.
In my college days it was the anti- Lacoste

...and I was wearing Fred Perry before your dad was born...in fact I played tennis with him.....honest....really I did.

Fortunately the infamous FP laurel leaves logo is a fairly rare sight here, unlike the wretched Lacoste crocodile logo. :fu:
