Thinking of getting a pair of new casual boots, looking at these two:

Herring Ilford in oiled suede

Herring Stratford chestnut calf

I want them both, but which one to get first?

I would get the Herring Stratford Chestnut Calf boot. You will get more use of it.

Best regards,

To me they are two different boots. I would use the desert boot in late spring and the beginning of the fall, and the Stratford in early spring and late fall.

The only other thing that is holding me back is that I have not had any shoes with the Loake 026 last, which these shoes are made on.

I guess there's only one way to find out.

I guess the only real way to solve this dilemma is to get both

For casual boot, I would think the Suede is better.

That's sort of iffy, its definately "more" casual. But that also paints it into "too" casual, where as the captoe blucher boot under a nice pair of slacks is more than wearable in a formal setting, particularly if you take a few minutes to polish it up. And then if you wear it a few weeks with out polishing it they would take on a nice amount of distressed appearance.

Follow it up with a nice brushing and polish and bam.. Back to a dressy appearance.

I have some brown chukka plain toes I use in that manner, great with jeans, but I wore them yesterday to work with a quick shine up.

I think he made the correct choice.
