Don't take it all so seriously, bud. Keep doing whatever it is you do and you might break 170 in a few years.

If he pulled 465, then he's doing better than average ... for a skinny guy.

Wait, did I ever say I was a bodybuilder? I remember saying the exact opposite in fact. If I sprayed myself with Pam and got under intense overhead lights like most photo shoots have it would look completely different, but anyone who's never done one would probably not know that. The body changes with the sport that's being played or trained for. Shoehorning everyone into a Ronnie Coleman-esque physique was something I thought only beasty is doing, but apparently it's a lot more pervasive on this forum than I originally thought. I wonder if beasty's same wet dreams and jealousy are as popular as well. The stupidity here is pretty rampant, especially when you have someone actually ask if I work out after posting a video of a 465 pull @ 185lbs. It may not be the best lift ever recorded, but I think a 2.5x bodyweight deadlift is enough to at least convince people that there was some training done.

Why,
I give you major props for posting your picture and the video of your deadlift. Nice work! Now, go eat some gummi bears.

If you're pulling 2.5xBW, your spinal erectors and hamstrings must be disproportiantely developed.

If he's pulling 2.5XBW, then he's doing something right. Enough of the buff pretty boys who bench and squat roughly the same (usually not much more than 225 lb.). Give Why credit; he did something that very few can do.

Of course he's doing something right if he's pulling that. I neither said nor implied otherwise.

Can I just drink 3 or so glasses of skim milk instead of whey protien after a work out and get the same effects? I really like the taste of milk - a lot.

Is it something about the isolate protein that I need (that it digests quicker), or is it better that I just stick to real food as I have heard so many times outside of the forums?

It depends on what your goals are. Milk contains a lot of carbohydrates in the form of sugar. Because of this, the total calories consumed to obtain the same amount of protein will be much greater when only drinking milk. If you are not worried about extra calories I would recommend the milk though, as it's all natural and also contains calcium and other useful stuff your body needs.

That's what I do. I mix my protein powder with skimmed milk.

It's always crucial to have proper meals after a good workout. Good protein rich meals instead of powder. Eat fish because that's easier to process. Feed the machine I say.

You know you're not supposed to take protein powder instead of meals? It's a nutrition supplement, after all.

He doesn't look that disproportionate - little forearms aside - in the sense that his body isn't terribly out-of-whack.

Here are some strength benchmarks for a recreational lifter:

Bench - 1.5 X BW
Squat - 2 X BW
Dead - 2.5 X BW

Assuming he weighs 185 that means:

Bench - 277.5
Squat - 370
Dead - 462.5

1,112 total.

While the dead may be his best lift he has said that he totaled 1000, so give or take 100 lbs or so the lifts seem proportionate.

I don't train my arms because I want to fit into clothes. Biceps don't do a whole lot anyway.

And trying to see if I'm in proportion based on a photo through a dirty bathroom mirror with a lousy old camera is kinda petty.

This reminds me of comments on YouTube videos.
