Does anyone have any experience with Whereabouts (pricing, quality, sizing etc)? It's a Japanese brand, and so far as I can tell the only US stockist is H. Lorenzo. I'm particularly interested in these suits:

Wow, don't know much about the label, but I'm really digging the stuff. Seersucker and blackwatch shorts look great.

Thanks so much for posting!!

this label was posted on superfuture. Opening ceremony carries the line. From what I heard, quality is good for the price.

This is some really nice S/S stuff. The pants on the right would look great with a polo and the sleeves rolled up. Also, the shorts-suit thing looks awesome.

I like the brand, from what little I've seen of it. The quality is not stupendous, but it does have a rather playful perspective on preppy/Americana at times - and the jackets and layering pieces are nice. Did not know that anyone in the States carried it. Thanks.

Oh, I may be getting it confused with another brand, but the chuckalikes with the pointed toes are pretty cool.

So price-quality ratio is good, but what exactly are the prices themselves like? Could I get a pair of shorts for, oh, $70-100?

I saw the last collection and will be checking out FW 09. SS 09 is a good collection that can sell well in NY and LA...tough for Seattle though in a bad economy, so I passed for now. I am seriously considering FW if the collection and price points work.

The label is gaining popularity in Japan. Price point will be similar to EG, maybe a touch higher. Shorts...probaby $250 range. To my knowledge, Lorenzo was it, but not surprising if Opening Ceremony picked it up as well. Both Lorenzo and Opening Ceremony have been picking up Japanese labels. Sizing will be consistent with Man of Moods....I am thinking only up to size 3 for now. Here is their site:

Check out Lorenzo for Factotum and Heath, Opening Ceremony for Tiny Dinosaur. Anyone into Whereabouts may be into these labels as well. We are carrying Tiny Dinosaur this spring.

Thanks a bunch for the web site--I didn't know that existed. The site lists Opening Ceremony in NY and LA as stockists, as well as Barneys in Japan and Ecru in Korea. I believe I also found some of their stuff on Rakuten. I think someone on SuFu mentioned that the brand is popular with Barney's SAs--with any luck maybe they will eventually pick up the brand as well, although I don't know if they go for many Japanese brands. Given last year's collection, I would definitely be interested in FW if you picked it up. Remember, you have an online shop now and there are hordes (well, at lest 10) of tiny internet people who want Japanese clothing--no need to limit yourself to the bad economy in icky Seattle. Factotum seems really good from what I have seen. Tiny Dinosaur seems interesting too, although most of what I find online is their womenswear. Will you be carrying the men's collection as well?

From what I can tell, shirts run about $189. I haven't seen anyone selling shorts or pants online, but I feel confident that they would be over $100--closer to EG pricing as Atsui said.

Tiny Dinosaur we will only carry women's for spring. Their men's items were terrific....but they used a lot of fabric which is not suppose to get wet

and well Seattle, so we are waiting for men's until F/W. Tiny mentioned Opening Ceremony ordered almost only men's. Their spring men's collection should sell well in LA. I think Aloha Rag may be in the mix too.

I have a lot of things cooking for FW and Whereabouts is a potential. I like the Junya vibe from this particular collection and want to see more before jumping into it.

Just saw a lot of their stuff at opening ceremony and it is nice! There was an awesome mac jacket and a khaki trench that had an irridescent pink glow. Both were on sale for around 700 or so. Their shirting is fairly solid as well, it is a rather interesting collection that fits proper.

Daaaaamn. I'd pay $100-$150 for a great pair of shorts, but $250 sounds steep.
