One of my favorite hotels in Asia. Beautiful views, great pool. Actually a pretty decent value for the service level.

Thank you very much to everyone. I am checking out your recommendations and some seem very nice. If it helps any more, I can be there for the month of July and that's about it. Before I am in Australia still and after I'll be in parts of Europe. I take it these hot months aren't so popular, which is a bit of a surprise; is the heat really that bad?

it is not so much the heat, but the humidity here, then there is the ice cold buildings to contend with too - summer here is the worse time for colds

When I'm paying my own way, I stay at the YMCA Salisbury. It is not your typical YMCA - think more of a really nice Holiday Inn. Very clean, very quiet, in a great location - across the street from the Peninsula, about two blocks from WW Chan.

When others are paying, the Peninsula or the Sheraton are good unless I want to be in Central.

I have stayed at The Kowloon Hotel in Nathan Road in TST. It is just behind The Peninsula.Wotif.com.au has room only for between 137 + 177 Australian Dollars per night for the next4 weeks.Rooms are very small.MTR is close to hotel.

Nor sure what your budget is, however some of the Central hotels like the Mandarin & Shangri-La deeply discount their rooms during the summer months. BTW, it will be as hot as Oz, with equal parts humidity.
