I want to learn more about mens styling fashion as I am illiterate when it comes to it. However it just seems so overwhelming. Where does a rookie start ?
The 2024 Styleforum and Epaulet Alpaca Project
For the third year in a row, we're thrilled to partner with @Epaulet to bring you an exclusive collection of luxurious sweaters, hats, jackets, and blankets in Peruvian Alpaca.

I would agree with Die Workwear, but certainly not Men's Fashioner or RMRS.Right around age 30 I started my "menswear journey" on Youtube. Real Men Real Style and Ashley Weston (Men's Fashioner) are good starting points. These are more accessible fashion channels for a wider audience and for men who aren't ready to wear sport coats and tassel loafers on Saturdays. You can also check out Gentleman's Gazette and He Spoke Style for more "advanced" advice or general guidelines on tailored menswear.
Die Workwear, aka. the "Menswear Guy" on Twitter and at one time this forum's patron saint, has posted a ton of content here over the years that you can research.
But if you're new to this forum, welcome. You're in the right place.
I think RMRS and MF/Ashley Weston get too much pooh-pooh here for what they are and their intended audience. It's kind of like a bourbon connoisseur pooh-poohing Buffalo Trace. It's good 101-level advice for basics like fit and mature outfit configuration. The advice leans contemporary in order to be palatable and accessible. As your preferences develop and your appreciation for menswear grows, obviously a lot of the RMRS/MF stuff is going to look bland or conformist.I would agree with Die Workwear, but certainly not Men's Fashioner or RMRS.
