I'm 25, very slim, and need my first suit. Preferably by early June, when I will be attending a wedding. Need to keep it below $500 (I'm still a full time student).

I've looked around online and found that I liked some of of the suits in the $400 - $500 range offered by Suitsupply (for example: http://us.suitsupply.com/en_US/suits/napoli-grey-faux-uni/P2505I.html?cgid=Suits). I'm pretty sure I want a dark grey / charcoal color. I live near San Francisco, and have been looking forward to Suitsupply opening their location here so that I can see and try their suits on in person, but the location hasn't been opened yet.

Can anyone recommend where I should be looking? And how much should I expect to pay for alteration? And I need to reiterate, if it makes any difference: I am super slim.

    Thanks.

I think you are looking in the right spot and should order a couple online to try on...free shipping both ways. As far as alterations go, you won't really know that until you try on the suit and judge what needs to be altered. Even if it is just hemming the trousers and nipping the waist, you should factor in anywhere from $50-$100.

Try Cassara's in Dublin. I have my suits tailored there and they've done excellent work for my friends and me. They should have suits that fit your budget and are comparable to Suit Supply's.

Thanks for the advice. Should have mentioned that I am on the Peninsula and the wedding is June 5. Cassara's in Dublin looks awesome but I don't think I will have enough time to make the trips out there! Think I will order two sizes of the LAZIO GREY PLAIN suit from Suitsupply, take to a local tailor, and hope for the best.

You better act quick. Some tailors turn around times are about 2 weeks....depending on the alterations.
