Where to get measurements in Vancouver (Canada)?

Hi everyone,

I have a big event to attend to in roughly a month and am looking to get a decent fitted suit for this event. After much research I have decided to purchase my suit at online Indochino but have heard some bad stories about how suits came delivered not fitting as well as they should due to bad measurements! Indochino came to Vancouver awhile back to take free measurements but it looks like I missed out.

Does anyone know a good tailor / someone who can measure my size properly for a fee? I think it would be much better than measuring myself :p

I may lose a couple of pounds before this event as well so someone who is skilled enough to take this into account would be great! I know that may be hard and a bit of a guess but it's worth a shot!

The reason why I picked Indochino was because it seemed like the best bang for the buck, if anyone knows a place to get a good fitted suit locally for around $500 im open to ideas as well!

Thanks everyone.

If your research led you to Indochino, then you need to research harder. Seriously, there's a giant thread here in the forum and only a minority of products turned out barely wearable, with the rest largely disasters.

The problems you face:

1) 4 weeks is WAY too short a turnaround time for any online made-to-measure
2) Any suit you buy will almost always require alterations, and that takes time
3) Buying a suit that you hope to fit into is a classic mistake in vanity, and you're much better off getting something that fits now or hold off until the very last minute, which aggravates 2)
4) Indochino is NOT the best bang for buck given the additional shipping and headache you will likely face, because I don't remember reading the thread and seeing any suit that worked on the first fitting, except when their traveling tailors did the measurements (and even then...)

Unfortunately, ordering from online MTM is exchanging the surety of having a solid product you buy off the rack, for a gamble that something might fit better. It doesn't work out often, and it's really just an issue of caveat emptor.

What's your budget? Measurements? Are you hard to fit? Have you tried on suits anywhere? How often do you plan to wear the suit? Do you know what you're looking for? For a variety of reasons, online MTM sounds like the last thing you should consider.

Welcome to the forum.

+ a great many.

You are asking for a disaster to happen by this meagre research. Given the lack of time I can only suggest you get a decent RTW garment and have it tailored. You do not tell us of your size or other oddities and you plan to lose weight into the bargain, merely compounds your error.

Getting measured by one tailor does not take any account of how the garment might be cut or carved, your figuration or anything else for that matter. Bricks and mortar shops of decent quality are your only way forward.

Just search on the wretched Indochino to learn of the problems

Hmm, I came off sounding like an ass. I guess my point is, there are a great many options, based on your current requirements, than to rely on online MTM.

I strongly recommend you check things out around your area, as well as read the forum. Questions are encouraged.
