Any suggestions for salons in the Loop? Went to Halo and it was horrible!! I almost joined Yelp just so I could leave a negative review. It was a $10 haircut at best. Fortunately I had a coupon and only had to pay $29. They hide their inexperience and lack of skill behind the hot towels and hand massages.

$30-50 would be ideal. Considering John Allan, but the full-services have me worried (see Halo).

I didn't love John Allen when I went, but my haircut is only worth $16. I need someone who knows how to use clippers and a straight razor.

Strange Beauty Show in Wicker Park. A salon, not a barber shop, but I have found that almost all the women who work there put great care into the haircuts. $35 for wash, cut, and style.
