This may be a bit outrageous for the tone of this board, but I really like these. (I believe they were featured in an issue of gq/esquire 2-3 months ago)

I like the general idea of this shoe, Cognac, captoe with medallion....but I'd prefer to spend in the 2-400 range...

1) Quality of LV?
2) Likelihood of being able to find it for cheaper? (I don't think LV is ever on sale)
3) alternatives?

Thanks in Advance,
W.I.A

Get the Crockett and Jones Clifford in Antique Tan from Plal. It will be hundreds of dollars cheaper and will likely kill the LV in terms of quality. LV never has sales, and the quality of this type of designer wear is never that excellent.

Nope. I've seen a million pair of shoes that look like this, they're called full-brogues and are a classic design. LV is definitely not the first one to do this, they're just jumping on the bandwagon.

Can be easily done, don't waste your money on the LV version.

1) Meh. Blake stitched, if it was half the price it might be worth it, but even then it would be borderline. The alternatives listed below will be the same or better quality leather and goodyear welted (better quality construction.) That one from LV isn't bad, it's just nothing special.
2) Highly likely, it's a pretty common design and color. LV doesn't go on sale.
3) Try C&J, Trickers, Alfred Sargeant, etc. You can start with sites like Plal or Pediwear.

The only distinctive thing about the LV shoe is the stitched "flower" in the midst of the toe brogueing - and that makes it look ugly.

As others have said, you can get far better shoes for half as much as the LV shoes from places like P.Lal or Pediwear.

I don't think the shoes are ugly per se, and will even go as far as to say that they will look good with a pair of jeans. They are, however, tacky with a LV emblem on the heel and overpriced. You may be able to find it cheaper, but even at $400 they are overpriced. I have a pair of Gravati that look similar and they were a little over $200. Here are a few pics:

I think P. Lal has those C&J's within my price range.

This is proving to be a more difficult endeavor than I thought.

I may have to take the Chinatown bus to NYC.
