I'm getting married... the lady has an off white dress, so as to not draw more attention to my shirt I need to get an ivory shirt or off white. Where can I get a descent wing collar, 1/2"or 1/4"pleats, preferably cotton. I've seen some micro-fiber versions... not sure how I feel about this. Have never seen one in person.

I'm not concerned about getting a high-end brand. I just want something descent at a descent price that will look good and be on the slimmer side if possible. I suppose if I get a cheap one I could get it tailored.

Your comments are appreciated.

This is a Ralph Lauren that I found in ivory with the micro-fiber

Aside from the content being micro-fiber, it's got button cuffs. So not a formal shirt.

Have you given thought of having something made for you? It's an important day, and you may have a bit more luck with color going the custom route.

So only french cuffs are considered formal?
I'm very much new to this... only time I've worn tuxes is when I've been in wedding parties and I've had to wear rentals.

I figured this is my our day, I don't want to wear someone else's pants.

I thought about going with brooks brothers since they have a custom shirt program... anybody have any other recommendations? Ideally that would be the best as I could possibly have a larger pallet of colors to choose from.

You want a shirt that is 100% cotton, french cuff (although not single cuff, that is for white tie), with either a turndown collar or wing collar. Be advised, however, that a wing collar shirt should have a detachable collar.

Why should the collar be detachable?

I do plan on wearing a self-made black bow tie, no cummerbund, no vest, possibly black suspenders.

Although this won't tell you where to locate your desired shirt, it should provide all the answers as to the how and why of black tie details.

I think Ben Silver has one.
