I need to figure out my size in Alden and would also like to see the difference between brown and walnut calfskin Balmoral Oxfords.

My google search has returned inconclusive results - where can I find Alden shoes in Chicago?

Crap, can I correct the error in the thread title?

There is a shop in the Hancock Building on the Chestnut Street side that carries Aldens. The name starts with an "H" but I can't remember it right now.

You must be thinking of Hanig's. I was there in November to look at some Indys, but they didn't seem to have many Oxfords.

Yes, Hanig's. I've never purchased from them, but I thought their selection was better when they were in their own building on Michigan Avenue.

I think Altman's on Monroe st also carries Aldens.

Update: was in Altman's recently and they informed me that they're phasing out carrying Alden. So all I know of are Hanig's (in Hancock) and the Haberdasher on State. Possibly the J. Crew in the 900 N Michigan bldg.

Haberdasher on State is a truly unfortunate shopping experience.

I don't recall seeing any. Frye, Allen Edmonds, yes.

Hanigs will order Aldens for you; I've done that once. I was happy with the folks there.

Too bad about Altman's. Hanig's only carries D widths and will try to convince you that they fit.

Thanks SF (a new me)

Try Giesche store (630.232.2317 Geneva location)...family owned with shops in Geneva and Downers Grove...The Geneva store has a number of selection, mostly basic inventory...I believe they can special order and I find their pricing competitive...but don't expect Leather Soul type of items...

FYI, Jack Spade on Oak Street has several pairs of Alden as well (mostly the classics). They seemed to have plenty of sizes available.
