I was looking into purchasing a suit. I currently do not own a suit. My current job is requiring me to goto more meetings and i'm starting to have a use for a suit. So I went to Mens Wearhouse and Macy's. I was told I need a 38 long. Mens Wearhouse had nothing for me. Macys had an Alfani that was a black tonal and wasn't even in stock at that store but a store across town did have. So i came home and and searched the internet Calvin Klien, Kenneth Cole, Perry Ellis, etc, etc and can't find anyone that carries a 38 long. I did go into brooks brothers and they can custom tailer me one. I was hoping to find a more stylish type of suit. I like the slim fit suits.

So basically does anyone know who/where sells stylish 38 long suits?

I'm not gonna lie, I do not even know where to begin looking for a 38L have never seen anyone carry a suit in 38L ebay might be a nice place to look (I am in no way suggesting to buy the below suits, just an example of how hard it is to find even on ebay, so hard that you have to resort to buying Polo University): http://clothing.shop.ebay.com/Suits-...=p3286.c0.m282 so even on ebay its tough, and those left are pretty old and crappy suits. Pursue Brooks Brothers i'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I know so other than brooks brothers which isn't a bad dea 2 for $799 but they are very traditional looking suits which is fine but dangitt i wanted a designer suit.

Can you get a 40l tailered down that small?? I'm just trying to find all my options before i go the brooks brothers route.

Well if you get a RL Black Label in 40L it should be slim to the point that it will fit you like a 38L. But that is a more expensive option which you shouldn't have to take.

40L in a slim fit may work depending on brand, just remember that. Try to get yourself measured at Brooks Brothers as well, I don't trust Macy's.

Also I agree you should not have to wear Alfani or Perry Ellis every in your life. Go for the best.

I dug up this thread as well

seems that H&M and Linus has decent 38L and possibly MTM with Burberry, which seems nice enough for the time being. If I come across more I will let you know.

Thanks for the links. I've been reading/researching.

Also this is what was wrote on my Mens Wearhouse tux rental card. I had to get fitted for a tux today for a wedding which is what sparked most of this and realized i couldn't just buy a suit haha

Chest 36
Overarm 45
Coat Sleeve Inseam 16.5
Coat Size 36L
Waist 30
Hips 36
Outseam 41

Shirt Size 14/35

I'm like 6'1" 140lbs

Now when i went to macys the alfani was a 38L, Brooks Brothers had me in a 39L. but they had to pull that in.

I know a 36L is completely out of the question.

i PMed stoney but in case anyone can benefit from the info:

hey, i have a 36'' chest and the 36Ls from M&S are great for me. Of the two 36Ls from there I have, the measurements are chest 19.5, length 32 boc, 25.5 sleeve. One is from the Autograph line and the other is Collezioni. Autograph has flat front pants and Collezioni has pleated pants and higher waist.

Just be aware that if you get something from there described as "super slim fit" (from their Limited Collection, which is cut more for young men) you may want to go with 38L (19'' chest, 29.5'' length boc, 26 sleeve)-- fabrics not as nice but perfect casual and going out jackets.

You can always return whatever you buy there, too-- you have to ship it back to England I believe but for something as important as a suit I think it's worth going through it all.

As for Linus-- thanks for posting that link! They used to have a boutique in NYC and I *loved* it-- they carry 36L and 38L and were just amazing suits. Awesome fabrics at great prices. The NYC store closed and they didn't have an online presence for the longest time-- good to see they're selling on German Ebay. Their listing says they only ship to Germany, but you could contact them and ask if they'll ship to the USA for extra.

i'm 6'1 140lb.

If your chest is 36" then you're more likely to want a 36L; places like Men's Warehouse will always put you in something that's at least a size too big... If you can't find anything OTR then you could consider MTM.
