Try eBay.uk seller retailtherapyforall (Sarah). She has listed some flat laces like the ones that come with Grenson shoes at my request. I told here there was a market for them. I just got these:

Tell her Bristol sent you.

I buy replacement laces for all my dress shoes at my local Alden store. In the past, I've also used and been happy with Allen Edmunds laces. Also, it's possible to get replacement laces from shoemakers such as Edward Green.

Henry, there's four places.

There's the Shoelace Hut, that's on third. There's Shoelaces-R-Us, that's on third too. You got Put-Your-Lace-There, that's on third. Loop Low, Sweet Grommet . . . Matter of fact, they're all in the same complex; it's the shoelace complex on third. Over in the shoelace district.

I've bookmarked some of the sites already mentioned in this thread, but has anyone ever seen distinctively colored dress laces for sale anywhere? I like the subtle effect of the purple laces that Paul Smith puts in some of his black oxfords and was thinking of trying it with a pair I wear casually. I think a dark slate blue might look cool as well.

The site mentioned on the last page has some that might work (esp. if I made them a bit blacker), but it seems strange to import $3.00 shoe laces from England...

You've got to try online.  There are several options, depending on what sort of shoe you're trying to lace.  See:

http://www.purpleshoelace.com

which has a list of different brands and where you can get them (well, some of them at least).  Better bet than your local pharmacy.

A useful enough link that it should be beamed back to 2009.
