Where should I look for colorful casual socks?

I like a lot of the offerings by Thomas Pink, but at $30+ a pair....I can't really justify them.

I like the bold combinations of colors (lots of navy/pink, etc...), so that I can wear them in a more casual environment.

Anyplace I can find something similar for less than $10 or $15 per pair?

You might want to try Polo Ralph Lauren and Faconnable.

Check out your local Filenes Basement or Marshalls.

I very occasionally come across some bright socks at Marshalls or a similar discounter. Pretty rare though. J Crew has a bunch of bright colors right now - I think they are 3 for $39 or something like that, pretty reasonable.

Ben Silver has a pretty good range of colors and patterns right now.

    At work, mostly.
CT stocks a range of boldly coloured casual socks. Good quality, IMHO.

Express *shudder* has some socks with pinstripes, patterns et.c. Sort of dress socks but they are somewhat versatile.

Hmm, they do. Wish I had known that before I ordered my boots. Oh well.

STP often has some -- and heavily discounted, because the colorful ones often sell poorly.

I don't like the JCrew socks - poor quality materials, in my opinion. I agree that Marshall's and TJ Maxx have limited "fun" socks. Try ebay for Brooks Brothers socks, or buy them direct. They're around $15 a pair for the cotton socks. They have much nicer ones in the store than in the catalog. STP can also be good. I've had decent luck at Filene's.

Ben Silver socks look great, but they aren't cheap. Their outlet has much better prices:

If you ever get to Paris, you might try BHV or Bon Marche. For quality socks, ridiculously inexpensive compared to the prices in the US.

My favourites are the English-made wool argyles from New & Lingwood - great fabric and colours. Other colourful socks tend to be more thickly knit, while the N&L are finer, tighter, slightly thinner, but take just as much of a beating as other wool socks. For the record, I am comparing them to the argyles of Ben Silver, Paul Stuart, Brooks, Paul Smith, and Pantherella. Harvie and Hudson has some short wool socks in nice colours that are also excellent. Sadly, it is hard to find colourful, thinner OTC socks - most seem to be in more casual guises.

Are these on the New & Lingwood website? I can't seem to find them.

I bought them in store. I suppose you could call them and mail order but it's of course risky, sight unseen. The wool/nylon, mid-calf purple with red/black argyle and red with black and sky blue argyle are my favourites. Like all mid-calfs they end up settling just below the calf but not further down.
