Do you go to a barbershop or a frou-frou salon? I go to the latter, namely Avant, one of the Top 10 salons in the country and certainly the best one in town.

barber.....i've been going to the same guy for about 5 years now, before that the same gal for about 5 years.

if i had $500 to blow on a haircut, i'd have Jonathon cut it (from Blow Out on Bravo) just to see what a $500 haircut is like

Kent, how much do you pay for your cut at Salon froufrou? and can you *really* tell the difference between a barber's cut?

I go to a "frou frou" salon in Scottsdale - but I only pay $25 because I've been with my stylist since she just barely moved past the shampoo girl stage.

It's nice to get your hair cut where the female scenery is enjoyable - both the stylists and the clientele.

I go to a salon and pay $80 to get my hair cut. It's definitely worth it.

I have a longish hairstyle and the barbers I have been to have managed to screw it up pretty bad. Hat-for-a-month-bad. Plus at the salon they wash my hair, give me a massage and fetch me coffee when I ask for it.

I go to a salon, costs $30 plus tip.

Before that I went to a barber and never got the same haircut twice. There was always some flaw with it. Now I consistently get a good haircut. It costs 2x as much but it's worth it for the quality.

Well, salons tend to be risky. A friend of mine went to one and swore that he almost started to cry when he saw whay they did to him. I would pay almost anything to have seen what that looked like.

Salon, definitely. It costs 35 plus tip, and they massage my scalp, brink me a drink, have loverly scenery, and good music. It's definitely worth it. Plus, I'm not made for a barber shop and their talk of football and hunting. I want to talk about shopping and pop culture.

I shave it down to stubble myself twice a week, with a clipper. Needless to say this is not a sophisticated operation. I just shave and shave and then feel around to check if I've missed a spot. The top and crown I shave smooth with a razor. After that, Dr. Bronner's Peppermint shampoo for a violent tingle, then an exfoliating scrub.

If I want the neck done neatly with edging, I go to the Dominican place next door. "We specialize any styles of hair cuts," says the awning. This is the American way to specialize -- don't leave anything out.

$25+tip at Chelsea Barbers. But I don't get anything that requires spending more than that. If I were slightly more confident about it, I'd just cut my own hair.

FWIW, I'm spending about $15 down here in NC, tip included.

I go to a barber, 10 bucks plus tip,, 18 with my son.

for more than 10 years I went to the same guy, and then I moved.

he was great, for the first 5 years, we never said a word to each other after the first time I got  a hair cut.

he would say "same?" I would nod, and that would be our only commuinication.

then one day it got f***ed up when he asked me for a ride, and after that he started talking to me eveyr time.
