1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Let me say first off I love this forum. It's taking on the atmosphere of a favorite bar you stop in after work and have a belt with the guys. I enjoy chatting with you all and was wondering where everyone lives or is posting from. Myself, born, reared and educated in Indiana, but for the past 13 years a resident of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Anyone else?

I live in Cleveland, Ohio. I've lived here all my life. The down side of Cleveland is that there is no place to buy clothes anywhere near here (except one Hermes boutique that is out of my price range most of the time)- however that can also be an upside because people always ask we where I get my clothes. I dress a lot different than most people in Cleveland (Home of Drew Carrey and The Browns)

Renwick: What is it with Drew Carey's suits? I find them incredibly ugly and boxy. I'm sure you're fond of his ties though, VBG, as they are on the skinny side.

I've lived near and worked in Toronto, Canada all my life. The shopping is pretty good around here, maybe not quite as hip as Montreal or Vancouver, but I can usually find any label I'm looking for locally.

Yes, it's a good forum and lots of interesting people hang around here. I'm born, bred and live in Reykjavik, Iceland and, although it's possible to do shopping here it's of course limited. Therefore, I do a lot of my shopping in NY, Florida, Copenhagen and London whenever I get an excuse to travel. Thankfully I attend a lot of tradeshows and conventions overseas so I can combine that with some powershopping.

I'm in Montreal right now, it's not a bad place but for shopping it is very limited. I don't find it to be very hip, there are only so many places one can go for decent clothing: holts, harry rosen, some boutiques in les cours and on peel that's basically it.

Until either probably about June, I live in the Virginia Highlands neighbourhood of Atlanta, USA. It's one of the few bright spots in this bleak suburbopolis. However, I also maintain a flat in Vienna, Austria for my fiance, where I lived until recently. (She's a med student there.)

I was born in Lagos, Nigeria, but my father was a diplomat so I moved around a bit as a kid and spent some time on every continent but Australia. (I went to a public school and boarded there, but usually went to wherever Abu was for holidays.) Also, I've spend years in Lahore, Pakistan; Durham, NC; Berlin, Germany; and Vienna for educational reasons.

EDIT: It doesn't look like it, but "there" in the above graf means Lagos, not Australia.

    Peace,

    JG

Yeah, I think it's a Cleveland thing to wear sack suits. Even the most well dressed people I know around here where boxy suits too often. Personally I like suit jackets like so tight I can't breath- like Dior or Dolce and Gabbana cut them[IMG] Of course most people in Cleveland are also big fans of eating large amounts of food, thus leading them to need bigger suits- which I think makes you need a slimming cut even more. But yeah he does have some skinny ties to draw attention away from the suits. [IMG]

I was born in Los Angeles, I've spent most of my time on the Connecticut shoreline, and I'm currently in the process of getting through my final year of college in Ithaca, NY (Cornell).

Well, I was born in South Dakota, then I moved to Rammstein, Germany, then to the Asores Islands (where my sister was birthed), Portugal, then moved to Barcelona, Spain, then moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas, then moved to the city in which I currently reside, Charlotte, North Carolina. Will, maybe we can meet up sometime, and hit TR&C or Paul Simon...just a thought.

I'll jump in on this one.  Born and raised in the suburbs just north of Buffalo, NY.  Moved out to Rochester (an even smaller city due east on Lake Ontario) three years ago for college, and probably sticking around the area for awhile.  Shopping couldn't be worse, but hey, at least the people are great.

As I have mentioned before, I am an NYU student. I live in SoHo, which is great because I have the worlds best shopping just 2 blocks away. I'm going to study in Florence, Italy next semester, I leave mid January and come back in May.

Only, in this case, it's a Ferragamo calfskin belt. [IMG] I was born and raised in Manhattan, where I lived (barring a brief stint in Boston at the Berklee College of Music) until I moved to LA about ten years ago.
Um, have you looked at Drew Carey? He's not exactly built for Brioni.

I'm from Central Illinois and go to school at Bradley University. Funny thing Pstoller... I studied at Berklee College of Music at their 5-week summer program. I almost went there full time, but decided to get my BS and probably go to law school next year. I've still got a bunch of friends roaming the halls on Mass Ave. I'm probably going to be working in NYC at a record company this summer if I can land a job from the group of interviews I have in mid-Jan. I'm hoping to sublease a place in Soho or Tribeca for the summer (or anywhere I can find a place within my budget in Manhatten).

Good topic - this is something about which I have been curious as well. I myself live in Phoenix, AZ. Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, but raised in Tucson, Arizona. I went back to Michigan for college (Hillsdale College) and spent two years in the suburbs of Detroit after school ended, but have been back in Arizona for 11 years now. Lots of good shopping here, but my attire tends to run toward resort wear. When 63 degrees is cold weather, you can get away with almost anything in the winter and in the summer at 110 degrees you want to wear the lightest things possible Bradford [IMG]

This is great how a group of people with such an eclectic background can come together and discuss the same interests. I was born and raised in Northern California (San Jose and Cupertino to be exact) until I left for college at UCLA. I've been living in Southern California (Irvine/Tustin) for about 2 years (6 counting college) now. I plan to move back up to go to law school in a few years.

    Cheers,
