Where can you buy burgundy oxfords?

Ok, I'm in a shoe buying mode. I just order a MTO pair of Gaziano & Girling shoes in a black oxford. I've been wanting to purchase a burgundy oxford (wingtip, captoe, etc.). My problem is that nobody seems to carry burgundy anymore. Brown and tan are all I can find (and I already have plenty of those

). The only shoes I can find are:

1-Crockett and Jones Downing - at Ben Silver for $655! I would buy these without a second thought if they didn't seem WAY overpriced for a CJ handgrade (which would sell for $435 at Plal).

2-Alden - I just don't like the styling of Aldens. I prefer English or mild Italian.

Short of doing another MTO with Edward Green or G&G again, what options exist?

I picked up 2 pairs of burgundy oxfords in the last EG sale so i'd hold fire on the MTO.

If you have to have them now though, Church's 'consul' is a classic oxford to be sure & is available in a wide choice of colours & finishes including a full grain calf in burgundy.

Funny you should mention the Consul's, I'm wearing a black pair right now! I have worn them 2-3 times a week for nearly five years (rain, snow, etc.) and just wore through the leather outsole last week!

Any thoughts on were to pickup up burgundy Consul's? Solely Shoes and Herrings don't seem to have that color.

Strange that Herring's has indeed removed burgundy from the Consul options. I'm sure if you phone them they would order a pair for you.

You might want to try Church's factory store where you might get lucky and the prices will be much lower:

I love the U last Vass shoes. How does one go about ordering them (sky valet no longer carries them-correct?) and what would be the $$$? I suspect they would be nearly as expensive as G&G, which I think is a much finer shoe.

Not so much wingtips or captoes as wholecuts, but I got a pair of burgundy Barkers from this guy and he seems to have many more in various sizes.

Mentioning of G&G and Church's in the same sentence is blasphemous.

Church's are British answer to Allen Edmunds. Blahh

I have ordered escdale and consul on that hideous 100 last and I could not send them back fast enough.

I have burgundy Ferragamo Tramezza Daniely captoe oxfords and they're quite nice.

Some Tramezza dark browns also polish very quickly to an attractive rich dark claret, esp. if you use burgundy polish on them. I have a pair of monks that started off reddish-chestnut but within a handful of polishes acquired a lovely deeper red. I suspect the new Zegna Couture oxfords I posted a pic of recently will also fall into this category in time.

Shipton & Heneage has their Premier range Hampsteads for sale on the UK site, which shows they can ship to the US. The color is listed as Burgundy-Brown. Is this the same shoe as the Alfred Sargent Premier Esclusive range? Does anyone know about channeled or oak bark soles on the S&H?

I do have a pair of Burgundy Captoe on Alden 906(?)...they are kinda cool for old school conservative days. I also have a pair of Green Wellenton(?) Monk in Antique Burgundy as well as a Vass Old English II in oxblood on order. The Aldens are bland but great shoes!
