The issue isn't that a black shirt is unnacceptable, the issue is that it looks bad.

The shoes seem passable and inoffensive; are BR shoes still made by Clarks? If so, those may last a several years before becoming beaters.

I prefer charcoal to navy, but both are a safe bet. In a bind, you could always try and pass of the navy suit jacket as a blazer...so I guess navy has that over grey. And there's nothing wrong with wearing black shoes with navy. Regardless, now is an excellent time to buy a suit. With a white shirt, either color will be easy to match with a tie. Just keep the tie simple, avoid loud geometric patterns, bright colors, and anything shiny.

And the guy in the picture looks terrible with that shirt

I just dont want to be overdressed or under dressed. I was even considering a dark charcoal suit with a white button up with no tie. Since this wedding is more of a casual wedding. The groom is like.. 27 years old so allot of his friends + younger crowds are going to be there. I kinda left that detail out when i made this thread. Im kinda leaning more towards like a dark charcoal color.

Either a navy suit or a charcoal suit with a white button up would be perfectly fine. Wear a tie. You could always
take the tie off once you get there if the wedding turns out to be as casual as you think it might be.

At a wedding, it is incredibly rare that you will be out of place in a suit and tie. It is what you should be wearing- period. Coat and tie at the very least. You're an adult now, you're gonna need some grown up clothes for occasions like this. Get yourself a navy or charcoal suit, a decent white shirt, and a couple classic ties. You may not need them that often, but when you do, you'll have what you need.

Bought a dark charcoal grey suit from Banana. Wearing a plain white button up. I would of went with the Navy suit but i didnt want to go thru the hassle of trying to return my current shoes and trying to find brown shoes. Next on my list is a Navy suit tho.

    Nice!

By the way, I think you made the right choice. I prefer gray.

Charcoal suit looks good. Those socks are a bit on the distracting side for a wedding, I would go with a solid darker color instead.

For some reason, not a fan of that tie either. With a white shirt, would go either a dark red/burgundy or navy/mid-blue tie, with less distracting stripes.

I am not crazy about the tie also....but it is def much better than no suit and a V neck. Enjoy...

BR doesn't get a lot of love around here, but I've never had any problem with their odd jackets. Seems like you picked a nice looking, serviceable suit (just dry clean sparingly).

With that tie the whole look is going to be a bit desaturated (lots of gray); if it's not to late to return the tie and pick up something in dark blues or reds, I'd do that.

    (And wear the socks!)

Congrats on picking up the suit. You definitely made the right choice, regardless of navy or gray (and I'm a fan of the gray)

I concur on the socks. I'm a proponent of fun socks for everything but CBD, and weddings should be festive anyway. Besides, it sounds like you wouldn't be underdressed if you wore them.

Well as of last night everyone said i looked Handsome lol. As for the socks i know they are kinda loud but i wanted something to POP since the suit is a neutral color. As for that tie... i didnt wear it. Because it was too much grey i was looking for a red/burgundy tie but i didnt find a nice one so i just skipped it. Next on the list is a Navy Suit.
