There have been past waves of debate concerning our WAYWN thread with arguments ranging from over-complimenting the female cameos, to constant cynicism, to not enough critiquing, and to even an undercurrent of homophobic remarks disguised as locker room humor. But what about the other side? Can women actually coexist on a thread without catfighting or are they really like Oprah even in their online personas? Are we men the true catty bitches of the interweb? Well, tonight I present to you fuel for a new debate. No, that was actually sheer coincidence. I want people to make up their own conclusions but a question I asked another SF'er was if their forum gets $$$$ depending on the usage of "cute" used per day.

That's exactly what I was thinking and why I posted the link. On the one hand you've got a community where "if you don't have anything nice to say..." and in effect have a rose-colored mirror; it's a self-esteem boost, gets more people to post without fear of reprisal, etc. Maybe we're all so jaded by now but it comes off feeling like a circle jerk.

Compliments can be good things but that thread is so f'ing sugar-coated that it just comes off to me as almost being insincere and simply reflex. Are they trained to take silence as a hint that their fit is a disaster? Is gender difference that great that as men we instinctively want to critique and improve whereas women just want to fluff and be fluffed?

It's also curious to see how in a few ways their very similar to us. They all appear to like the same kind of clothes/accessories, as they routinely ask each other where item "x" was purchased, but clearly they have their own set senses of style the way we do. Plus, Alice is clearly their forum's "tinkerbell" and we have jet.
