I'm really anxious about starting to wear my summer clothes. I have a light grey suit and some gingam check shirts but when is it approriate to start wearing them. I don't want to start to early just because i'm anxious to wear them. I'm thinking once we break 70?

I broke out a spring/summer suit today for the first time this year. It just felt too warm this morning for flannel or heavy birdsye wool.

As soon as it's warm enough that you don't get cold wearing it, break it out I say. It's spring, on warm days wear warm weather clothes. Rules are made to be broken (like Memorial Day, etc.).

Make sure it's a black tropical wool suit.

Rules may well be made to be broken but north of the Mason-Dixon, I'd still wait until Memorial Day to bust out the seersucker.

Personally, I'd also hold off on the linen and tans but yea...

If you just have to wear some summerclothes, maybe try to stay close to darker colors - e.g. navy poplin...

As a denizen of the country's southern precincts, I generally wait until after Easter to wear seersucker, even if the weather may be conducive before.

My mother told me never to wear white — or other summery fabrics — in any month that contains an "R".
