When shoe stitching goes wrong

All,

I need your help in deciding the fate of my Dolce & Gabbana brown wingtips. I was giving them a polish last night when i noticed that some of the stitching is coming undone on the front. I have used an image of another shoe and have circled where the stitching is coming undone for your reference. Note that it's not becoming unthreaded, there are about four stitches (?) that have come loose. The thread is still intact, so I'm guessing the leather has weakened and it's come out of place.

Has anyone experienced this happening to their shoes? If so, can they be restitched, or did you just cut off the stray material?

Thanks for your help.

I don't have much experience in this area, but did you purchase them at a DG store or department store? If you paid a lot for them, it's very likely that the store would take a look and see if they can help you out.

No. I got them in a boutique in Sydney called Ag. I am in Korea right now, so taking them back to the store is not a possibility.

Surely someone else has owned a pair of shoes that had some fray stitches?

E-mail/call the company. They can sometime be surprisingly helpful.

Don't get them repaired before doing that, because they can't do anything if you've "altered" them.
