Got my Peal Perf Caps today. Ordered them 9/26. They look awesome, but are line to line on the quarters when tied up. Ordered my size (9.5C) and know that the next nearest D sizes don't work ( all my local shop carries are Ds). Need to go in and see if they can bring in a 9.5B and/or 9C. I was pretty sure from trying on the Ds that these would work, particularly since folks say they run narrow. They seem to fit wider than my AE #5 lasted shoes.

I got mostly free alterations on the suits I purchased. They did the hem, sleeves, waist and seat free. I think they make it up by charging a bit much for sides, back, etc.

Those look awful pointy, the ostrich loafers you posted were perfect in shape. Such a waste of croc.

They are slightly more pointed than the ostrich but have an almost identical last as my favorite workhorse loafers. The crappy point an shoot camera elongates them a bit.

Are alterations usually free? Hmm I wonder if the SA I talked with was pulling my chain. Their on-site tailor was charging me for the hem, sleeves, waist, etc and for what seemed very expensive. I ended up going to my usual tailor instead.

I got two suits, and here is what I was told:

    Sleeves: Free
Waist and Seat (within reason): Free
    Hem: Free
    Sides: $18/suit
    Thigh: $10/suit

    Recutting pants is like $65
    Back/collar roll: $30 (seemed high)

    I payed $28/suit in alts.

Yep. Just today paid the $18 to have the sides modified on my new suits. Sleeves, pants, and buttons free.

He was definitely going to charge me for the hem and waist but it was probably because I was going -3 inches. But regardless I went to another tailor since I need my suit within the week and the BB tailor was backed up.

BTW is the suit navy suppose to look black? It's a very dark hue and at first I thought it was the wrong color, but the packaging confirmed it was indeed navy.

Under florescent light, navy can definitely look black.

I never paid for alterations at BB, not even for sale items on deep discount; however, all of these items were BF. Some of the alterations were major such as recutting pants.

I've been charged a nominal fee (something like ¥500–800) for alterations at Brooks Brothers in Japan. Never free, though they do re-do things for free until it's to your liking.

Which begs the question...how good are their tailors? I've had really good results with Nordstrom tailors, every alteration is free except they charged me $50 to re-cut pants from double pleats to flat fronts.
