It looks like it was the new GF fall line that was recalled starting Oct 18th.
So I now see.
Then the store ripped you off.
In my experience, BB brick and mortar stores shorten sleeves and hems pants for free (purchased online or in-store). This applies to blazers, sport coats, suits and dress slacks.
That's only because their staff are generally douchebags. I've been to the Madison Ave store and several in NJ. They're all the same. Ask them to help you do anything but purchase an item (that gives them a commission) and they act they like you're cutting onions under their noses.
This mirrors my experience with my local BB store (S LaSalle St in Chicago).
+1 agreed, I've had really bad experience with most of the SA's with the exception of one. I have the same philosophy that when they ask you for help they aren't really asking and then they make it seem like they are doing you a favor by allowing you to purchase their clothing. It's partially b/c all their SA's are so dry...
My recent return attempt at a retail store pretty much backs up your claim even thouh I have had some great experience with some of their SAs in various locations. In my experience, I would say 1 out of 5 was positive; the other 4 were just waste of time.
In my experience, basic alterations are free, but only on non-sale merchandise. When I've purchased items on sale, I've had to pay for even minor alterations. But, the charges are typically less than what most tailors charge.
I built relationships with both a RL SA and a BB. When I need to purchase or locate something I go through them. When I need to return something I go through them. It is like having a favorite bartender, you take care or each other.
Case in point, I had a pair of cordovan boots that I mistakenly followed the reviewers advice and ordered half a size too small. After wearing them for a couple of days I realized that I indeed needed half a size bigger and I exchanged them yesterday without a bat of an eye.
Any idea if this will apply to formal bow ties?
Building a relationship works until you reduce your spending with them, then they tend to be less accommodating, even a bit salty. I used to purchase a lot at both BB and RL but recently have significantly reduced my spending with them because they no longer have what I like.
My SA gave me their sale booklet about 1 month ago, but asked not to share or tell anyone, but now I can share with you. I took pictures of everything until you reach the kids and women's section. My DW marked the things she would like me to get, so please pardon the tags.
MAZING. Thank you for sharing this.
1) Will that sale that starts on 26th also be available online and also in the Toronto store location?
2) Any Canadians here shop Brooks Brothers online? Did you ever get charged duty?
