There's usually an additional 15% kicker on 12/26, but inventory is significantly diminished by that point in time.

Yes. I picked up some shoes the holidays before last. I want to say it was 30-40% off with a bonus 15% or so with a certain payment method (mastercard)

Doubt you'll get more than 30% off shoes. I did buy a pair of Peal Cordovan Boots from Juan who's a SFer and he's extremely easy to work with.

Shoes are usually 25% off for Black Friday. I've never seen them at a flat 40% off.

Someone probably posted it last year, so you can probably search for the posts from early December of last year.

The shoes were discounted 25% last yeatr plus a 15% kicker if ordered on a specific date. Best time to buy shoes.

Correct, except that inventory is pretty non-existent at that point in time. I thought about getting a pair of shoes, but there was nothing left in my size that I had any interest in.

It was either 2011 or 2012, but one of those years there was a black Friday sale which was 25% off shoes plus an additional 20% off if you used a Mastercard. I think SF cleaned out the Peal selections that year when they were all in the mid-$300's.

Best thing to do is pre-purchase. Essentially pay full price a few days before the sale and then do a price adjustment. SAs will usually accomodate this.

So most Peals will go down to $414 before sales tax, which is the cheapest you'll find C&Js in North America (with some exceptions).

I always place my order for 12/26 a week in advance with my SA. Inventory typically gets cleaned out over Black Friday and five days of savings sales. There's a particular item I have my eye on currently that is already sold out in most sizes and may not make it until next week. My SA for BB has commented numerous times that BB inventory levels are much lower the last few years than in year's past.

Just got off the phone with my SA and he is ordering the item I've had my eye on in advance of next week's 40% off sale. [IMG] He took a look at inventory levels and did not think my size would be around if we waited until next week.

    So they are allowing pre-sale?

Curious as well. Have my eye on a $1000 coat and I am willing to call multiple locations if any are accepting pre-sales.

The SA's at the store closest to me really suck so I need to find a reliable location anyway.

I think New Shoes1's situation has something to do with having a good SA relationship. His SA will allocate the items he needs ahead of time, and simply hold them until the day of the sale. Not necessarily a pre-sale, but a favor of sorts i suspect...

Yeah... kind of figured that but was secretly hoping that was not the case.

This is what he does when the item is in stock in the store, but when it's not, I think he either does a cost override of sorts or charges me full price and then credits me the difference between full price and the sales price when I come to pick everything up after the sale. I'm not sure on the how, what, why or when for BB pre-sale methods, but my SA is a 20-plus year veteran and knows how to manuever them.

Dumb question - Is it possible for an SA to look up a gift card used on the last purchase, and to use it without physically having the gift card? I have mis-placed a gift card with a little over $300 on it, and have a few things on hold until I find it. Not sure if its even possible to do this, and wanted to check here before asking her, since I know it sounds a little odd.

Do any of you recall if one of the one-day sale categories is accessories? If so, was it a 30% or 40% discount? I'm interested in one of the Filson bags. Might those be excluded?
