That's not quite what she said. It was the textbook friendly version. We couldn't expose the womenfolk and children to the real word.

Kinda like "The vice presicency is worth a warm bucket of spit".

"Let them ********" is a little different, no?

She was an obvious scapegoat because she was completely cut from the real world of famines and abject poverty.

If you visit the Little Trianon in Versailles , you will understand better her psyche..A bit immature ,dreamy and not really politically and socially aware.

Catherine de Medicis was a more interesting Queen.
