Does anyone know when Domenico Vacca will begin their next sale (and what the mark down level will be)? I've got my eye on a cashmere sweater and one of their beautiful shirts.

I believe it's this week, starting yesterday. I will check the invite when I get home and post if no one else has it handy.

Yes, 30% was the number this past summer, when I scooped up a pair of lovely Stefano Bi's.

I own a couple of DV-branded shirts, and I wouldn't buy one of their shirts again, even at 30 percent off. Why not go to Anto a couple of blocks away, and treat yourself to some custom shirts in much better fabrics, fit, and construction, for about half the price? The SIC Tess book has many similar patterns to the Italian makers.

Or, just go to Filene's Basement for Domenico Vacca a month or so after the sale is over. Last spring, the DC Filene's Basement got a fantastic shipment of Vacca. I couldn't imagine paying $500-$650 for slacks apparently made by Incotex. But, $120 or so at Filene's was much easier to digest.

That they fall apart and cost too much for the fabrics that are used.

What Matt said, and their armholes are also kind of low. But go have a look and decide for yourself --- you may find something that you really like. Even though I wouldn't buy one of their shirts again, I do really like one of the ones I have: a denim shirt with orange stitching, which is going to be difficult to replicate until I find a source of good shirting-weight denim. Of course, the stitching is falling off ...

I don't think we have a Filene's in SoCal, though.

This is the first time that I have heard of this store. How's the quality of their stuff and what are the price range of their stuff? Are we talking about Brioni and RL-like prices?

Vacca's a wee bit pricier than RL, that's for sure.

In case anyone is still watching, they have 50% sale on their Madison store (at least when I was there 2 weeks ago), not sure if it's still going on.
