Wanted to know people's takes on some brands we haven't really covered
(Yes..i've searched but haven't found the results I wanted)

Bvlgari - watches, wallets, and ties(I already know how you all ove the ties)
Hermes - watches, wallets, jackets, shirts, and ties
Tommy Bahama - watches, shoes, shirts, and jackets
Burberry - Suits, Wallets, Shirts
Louis Vuitton - Jackets, Shirts, Suits, Wallets
Andrew Marc - Jackets
Alden - Wallets
Jil Sander - Shoes, Shirts
Jhane barnes - Shirts, jackets

Would appreciate UPDATED comments on any of these. I'm sure we've posted before but might have new thoughts.

Hermes offers some of the best leather goods in the world.

Burberry and Louis Vuitton clothing is an overpriced play on the original brand.

Bulgari neckties are among the world's best on the rare occasions when they print a respectable pattern.

Jil Sander shirts are fantastic for their simplicity and elegance - classic, minimal designs. Fit is also very good if you are slim. Not sure who makes her shoes, but Lattanzi did for a short period a while back.

Hermes leather is very nice, and Bvlgari ties are of excellent quality.

Almost always disappointed with Burberry and LV in the sense of quality to price ratio. Recently purchased some Jil Sanders shoes off of Yoox (black lace-ups that I posted a link to on this forum), I am uncertain as to which manufacturer can take credit for them but I like them a lot. I was quite surprised. My father used to love Tommy Bahama but thinks they are crap recently. I don't know if this is due to a change in his personal tastes or a lowering of the brands construction standards.

Bulgari leather goods are good if overpriced (but the same can be said for pretty much all high end leather goods), maybe not Hermes quality. They purchased the Daniel Roth watch brand/manufacture, which tells me that they are serious about their watch production. Their basic watches are probably just run of the mill but I've seen some of their high end stuff and they are really nice.

Andrew Marc make servicable leather outerwear. It's not magnificent but you are not paying for magnificence.

After I personally saw Tommy Bahama stuff all over the streets of China, literally, I began to question the brand. To me, there are a lot better quality shirts for $180 a pop.

I like LV Taiga and Epi leather wallets. The classic/damier canvas prints are very played out, though. I've owned a Taiga for the last 4 years and it still looks nearly new.

Etro - Good casual shirts. Some nice ties as well, but often far too bold.
Louis Vuitton - Jackets, Shirts, Suits, Wallets
Andrew Marc - Jackets
Alden - Wallets
Jil Sander - Shoes, Shirts
Jhane barnes - Shirts, jackets

Would appreciate UPDATED comments on any of these. I'm sure we've posted before but might have new thoughts.

Bvlgari - Great cufflinks and ladies' watches
Hermes - Great wallets, but not a fan of most of the printed ties
Tommy Bahama - Good casual-wear, but haven't seen it in Australia
Burberry - Meh, boring...
Louis Vuitton - Love the Epi leather goods, but hate the monograms.
Andrew Marc - Haven't seen it.
Alden - Haven't seen it in Australia.
Jil Sander - Great casual-wear.
Jhane Barnes - Haven't seen it in Australia.

I'd also like to add:

Christian Dior/Dior Homme - Great for fitted clothing. Very nice trenchcoats and leather jackets. Some nice ties as well.
Polo Ralph Lauren - Good for fitted polos, but otherwise pretty boring.
Roberto Cavalli - Some great ties - IMO they're the new Versace.
Montblanc - Great leathergoods and pens.
Versace - Really nice wallets, belts and other leathergoods. Some very nice tie designs, with better construction than many other designers.
Tateossian - Great cufflinks.
Salvatore Ferragamo - Stylish, trendy shoes.
S.T. Dupont - Great belts and leathergoods.
Rado - Stylish, almost-futuristic watches; Patek Phillipes might be exclusive, but also tend to be boring/old fashioned, while Omegas and Tag Heures are often over-embellished. If only they made them in automatics...
Cartier - Great watches, particularly the ladies' styles.
Ebel - More great watches - I particularly like their Brasilia model.
Franck Muller - Even more great watches.

Bvlgari - wallets: I like them a lot. I've had LV, Prada, Gucci, Hermes, etc. and next to Hermes my Bulgari calfskin wallet has held up the best.

Hermes - All around worth the effort, but you also pay superlative prices.
Burberry - Burberry London line is somewhat old fashioned, but Burberry Prorsum is quite interesting and quality is pretty good (this is the runway label)
Louis Vuitton - Leather goods so-so, because of their popularity they keep raising prices every six months. My briefcase bought in 2002 for $900 is now $1260 for the same item. Suits are made by Belvest; shirts are decent; jackets are nice but expensive.
Jil Sander - Good stuff, but expensive and fashion forward. Pre 2006 shoes produced mostly in Prada facilities, RARE shoes with hand-written labels by Lattanzi, several 2006 models made by church's (they'll be marked "Church's for Jil Sander"), Shirts have wonderful fit; if you can find pre-Prada models the quality and fit is really astounding. Post-prada are still decent but not worth retail price.
Jhane barnes - Basics like belts and such are okay (I've gotten them from Marshall's for $10), but hardly in league with these others. Interesting fabrics, but I'd put her in the same grouping with Joseph Abboud. Fit is often dumpy and unflattering (in my experience).

I bought a grey Burberry suit a few weeks back and I was amazed how well it fit me. I find they tend to come off the rack with a fair amount of waist suppression. I'm eyeballing a Burberry sport coat that I am waiting for to come down a little. Not the best brand ever but I have seen far worse.

As for Tommy Bahama, I like some of the materials they use but they seen to be made for giants. I wear a 42 jacket and a medium shirt is a dress on me.

I would not buy things like Hermes watches or Tommy Bahama watches or watches by anything not a watch manufacturer. It's like buying Jaguar Cologne.

Considering Burburry, I'm hesitant on anything other than the Prorsum line which is one of the few lines done well.

There were huge--absolutely propaganda sized--Bulgari ads in Shanghai and that just put me off the brand for life.
