I prefer to listen to and focus on my breathing in silence.

99% of the time my gym, and quite a few others I've belong to in the past, is blasting this. Drives me nuts. If I don't have my ipod I feel like I'm training for Mortal Kombat.

Walking on Sunshine - Katrina & The Waves. This is the only song I listen to when I work out.

Yes, as long as there are some vocals.

True, but at most of the gyms that I've been in, it's the top 25 radio station crap. Sped up electrasized versions of 25 chart songs. I don't know how you guys can get going without something that has some rhythm.

I only use the iPod when running, but...

Outkast--Bombs Over Baghdad (this is great for a sprint, less gooder to come on in the beginning of a distance run)
    LCD Soundsystem--Someone Great
Eagles of Death Metal--Speaking in Tongues
    Clipse--Wamp Wamp
    Tribe--Award Tour
    Tribe--Scenario
Sometimes I'll throw some hardcore on there--Gorilla Biscuits, Bad Brains, 90s jock stuff like Ten Yard Fight, etc.

Nice list. I was starting to wonder if anybody around here had even heard of Tribe.
