    Yes, they're the wrong size.

Wrong size. The Park Avenues are on the AE 5 last, which is very long, so if you ordered the same size as some other shoe, they are probably too long for you.

    Way too wide for you.

the length is good. Its just the width. When I was in the AE store, I was measured and everything. And it came out to be the size I bought. I bought them anyway so I could post a pic on here to get feedback. But I'll be returning them

You must have a very narrow ankle/heel. Try another last. Or try going to a brick and mortar store

Exchange them for another pair, even if it is the right size. Also ask that they ship the new pair to you directly from the factory. The bowing of the sides on some AE's has been much discussed in the AE thread and appears to be a result of one or more of the following factors: (i) a manufacturing defect; (ii) the shoes sat on the shelf for too long, which AE has acknowledged leads to the bowing problem; and/or (iii) fit/size issues.

I have the same problem. When my feet are in the shoe and I am sitting, the shoe fits perfectly. When I stand, my feet widen out quite a bit which pushes the shoe outward. The pushing causes the leather to pull. The heel is pulled forward and the leather is pushed outward so I end up with a funky throat in the shoe. It's not the width. At least not for me. It's the last or it's the throat (which should be stiffer).

I ordered them during their recent sale. They were just made. I tried them on in the store and it gave me the same trouble

Absolutely nothing's wrong, thats how AEs are. My guess is that they're designed that way to accommodate people with larger/fatter ankles; your ankles are normal/thin, therefore it'll look like theres excess material. Also, your low instep could be contributing to the problem. Just try on some other brands; I had the same prob with AEs, C&J dont give me the same problem

Too big. And if length is okay, try narrower shoes.

Try 2-3 pairs of the same size before you try other sizes/widths. AE has fairly wide manufacturing variances when I tried them.

Is there a question somewhere in there? Look, there is extensive discussion of this issue on the AE thread. Read it and make your decision on what you want to do.

I've got 4 pairs of AE, including this model, and none of them do this. I certainly don't think this problem is just because they are AEs.
