Why is it done on dress shoes?
Boots ? etc.

What r your thoughts on the look?

Just Curious. I've seen this on Vass Dress shoes. etc. and CnJ.

Double soled shoes are traditional for tough terrain, to stop the wearer feeling every stone and gravel through the sole. You might have no need for that particular protection.

Whether or not you like it as look and a design-feature is a question of preference.

The U last has a very low toebox both in terms of height and volume. In the larger sizes I think it looks too pointy with a single sole, so I've always ordered them with a double sole, I'd even go triple if I could. I got the idea at the NY Lattanzi store where I saw a shoe that was a dead ringer for the U last, except with a triple sole. It was one of the most beautiful shoes I've evere seen. Since I started ordering them that way it seemed to have caught on.

I love double-soled shoes, even on some dressier designs.

Interesting as I was thinking of having Brooks look into putting a double sole on my shoes. What are your thoughts on this? How would they go about adding sole to my U last shoes (no pun intended)

Soph, keep in mind that double soles will change the way the shoe flexes and feels. The shoes will be a little heavier (obvioulsy) and stiffer. Are you going for the look or is it a functional thing for you?

Comparison shot please?

Incidentally, if most of your walking is on carpeted office floors, there's nothing like the feel of a single leather sole.
