I fully agree with previous posters--I can't believe everyone else is so poor. Perhaps this is one of the unfortunate effects of the internet: I've been spending time reading messages posted by the unwashed masses, not even knowing about the depths of filth in which I've been wallowing simply by associating with these people. I think I'll shower before I head to the board meeting for the arts organization I endowed last week.

Yup, figured I might as well pay for a few quality items that fit exceptionally well rather than settle. To illustrate I'm perfectly happy with one black pair of shoes and one brown pair (both by Edward Green). Earlier on I was only looking for lower prices. But there was also the learning curve regarding how different makers fit. I think once you get that down it's smooth sailing.

Nope, OTR.

Yes, I know. But my RLPL fits like a glove and is of the most exquisite materials . The cut is superior. And you know what ... for my money it's more stylish than anything bespoke I have encountered. I find much of the bespoke clothing posted on this forum lacking any real style ... often amazingly bland, stodgy and downright boring.

To each his own, I guess.

Tie: £60/£80 nearly twenty years ago...

Technically i spend next to nothing on things I'm not bothered by and a fortune on my passions ...

I'd say that these are the average prices I pay. I've picked up a few odd jackets on B&S in the $300 range - but that's the exception to the rule, and the jackets are mostly fun pieces that I would not otherwise have comissioned.

I've moved to MTM for suits and custom for shirts which are actually $$$ less than some OTR, but nowhere near the $65 for a suit some have posted here. I'm conscious of the adage, "A man should aspire to own better, not more" (although some would argue more is better). I already don't wear enough of the things I currently own. The danger of the WAYWRN thread is that it can lead to a lot of additional spending (perhaps not all of it warranted) trying to keep up with the voxs.

So order today from Huntsman for $5000 plus $2-3000 for travel to have my suit in time for next Winter. A new $8,000 suit, YAY!
