1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

i would post a note on the door: "hey friend, why is it that you put paper towels here? "

because this is some weird ass shit.

if he was OCD he would just put paper towesl in his hands like a glove

if he wanted people to touch his feces (an actual disorder), he would just rub feces on the latch

It has got to be some weird OCD thing...

If someone was doing it just to fuck with people...I would think they would pick something a little bit weirder (I know a lot of unobservant people who would never even notice this) and if it was practical...wouldn't one of us have figured it out by now?

I was thinking it was some way of holding the door closed since it may be loose somehow?

    This thread had great potential!

you should take out the paper and unfold it, maybe there is a surprise in store for you.
Yes, perhaps it is candy. Mmmm, delicious restroom confections. Alternately, I'm voting that it's either meant to dissuade people from using it (clean-freak behavior, or a chronic-masturbator's way of having a private area at the ready), or perhaps the door is loose and the person is using it to secure the door from drifting open during occupancy (long shot).

I have thought about all of these things, but I am still at a loss. Not one of the doors has ever drifted open while I have been in it, so the loose door idea is crossed off the list. I really think we are never going to know until I encounter the person doing it. I am wondering if he will do it with somebody in there watching or he waits to do it alone.

That last sentence is a real winner.

But I am leaving a message behind. Like I said, I'm getting to the bottom of this... I can't sleep people! I need to know, who and WHY??

Maybe he takes a nasty dump and uses the paper to hold the door shut. It looks like the doors swing open on their own, so cramming the paper in the latch holds it closed so someone will use a stall that doesn't reek like ass?

bout to get scientihfikal on his ass

    Okay, what do we know:

    1. Someone (a male) is closing a bathroom stall door *from the outside* by wedging a paper towel between the latch and the door, multiple times per day.
    2. The bathroom stall otherwise functions properly according to good Pat.
    3. Stall is not out of TP
    4. There is no message written on the paper towel.
    5. Said someone continues to do this even though others disregard the paper towel and use the stall anyway. Said someone just re-wedges again next time he is in there.

    What can we deduce?
    1. Someone wants the stall door closed.
    2. Although he wants it closed, he is not batshitcrazy enough to lock it for real from the inside and *crawl out underneath*
    3. Reasoning for #2: someone either wants the stall readily accessible despite wedgepaper, or wants it inaccessible but is not bold enough to risk getting caught crawling.
    4. Still, someone bears some risk - if anyone walked in while he was positioning his wedgepaper, he would get caught.

What do I want to know:
    1. Is it the same stall every time?
    2. If so, is there anything unusual about the stall? Is it the last one in a row? Is it the closest stall to a certain wall or a window?
    3. How many stalls are there?
    4. Are there other bathrooms in the building?

Temporary conclusion: Someone wants the stall door to remain in a closed position for as much of the day as possible, even though he knows it will occasionally still get used.

deduction: something about the stall door being open or used bothers him. I will guess that it is next to his office and the door creeks, or he is right below the toilet and can hear it flush, something like that.

    Answers to your questions:

    1. No, it is not the same door every time. It is most often the second from the entrance, however.
    2. See #1. I cannot see why anybody would favor this particular stall. However, the stall to the right of it does not flush well.
    3. There are four stalls
    4. Yes, there are many bathrooms all over the building and at least one other on my floor.

I am thinking that maybe the person puts that in there and uses a stall closest to the entrance so nobody will use the stall next to him while he is doing his business? He assumes nobody will use the stall to the right because it is known to not flush well.

It is not a proximity issue with any offices. The bathrooms are way out of the way of any work areas.

I love leaving little gifts in the bathroom. I'm juvenile like that.

I had to remove a giant block of ice from boss' freezer yesterday. Decided to float it in the commode in the men's room on my way out.

I also like to collect my fast food combo meal wrappers and cup, and arrange them all on the toilet paper shelf in the stall after I eat.

That way it looks like someone actually sat there and ate a Burger King combo meal while taking a shit.

Half drunken cups of coffee with a half eaten danish, etc. Good times.

I think everyone at the office thinks it's the Asian dude who works on another floor but comes up to our floor just to take dumps.

I am guessing that someone is a clean freak and is selecting the cleanest stall first thing in the morning and applying the TP. The TP serves both as a deterent to other users and an indicator to him that the bowl has recenetly been visited by man-ass.
