AS used to manufacture for G&G before G&G started their own factory.

Interesting, is there somewhere you can direct me to where I can read more about this?

[qlovte name="emiristol" url="/t/344818/whats-the-current-consensus-on-alfred-sargent#post_6289393"]I know AS isn't held in very high regard here, but I was wondering how their exclusive range (specifically, the Hunt wingtip) compares to other shoemakers; e.g. Carmina, C&J.[/quote]

AS Exclusive's are excellent in both craftsmanship and quality esp relative to price. I spoke to a few people who specialise in English hand made shoes before deciding on the Lombard boot from the exclusive country range. owning these for 9 months they have held up very well with minimal creasing and signs of wear[IMG]

I would recommend speaking to Richard from shoehealer.co.uk as he looked after me very well plus he does repairs and modifications for AS. Chay from Alfred Sargent was brilliant too as he kindly allowed me to try on 7WK last to make sure fitting suited me.

I thought the country line was separate from their exclusive line?

I'm wearing a pair today. I love them and think that they are made better than my John Lobbs.

    Hi,
The Country line is actually part of the Exclusive range. The heel pad inside my Lombard boot says 'AS Exclusive'.

What attracted me to the country range was the versatility of the shoe but of course this is personal choice.

I've always found it a bit odd that the AS threads don't get more posts, seeing how many of us are proud owners. I don't know if it's a question of critical mass as some have suggested, or if there is something else. I'm as guilty of this as anyone else ofc. I have five pairs of AS shoes, and have made maybe 5-10 posts in AS threads. Meanwhile I've probably made 50+ posts in the Carmina threads, and I only own two pairs, with two more incoming.

Absolutely AS know how to put quality n service together finely. I could tell that by spending some time with AS's product director Chay. Plus the quality of calf leathers used is just superb.

Does anyone know where I can find more information on AS's revamp in 2009? That is, when they 'gentrified' their offerings.

I'm very pleased with the two pairs of AS shoes I own.

Yes, but to G&G standards . AS was making higher quality shoes for G&G than the shoes they make for themselves.
