What's the best way to keep a (Tempur Pedic) Bed Dry?

I just bought a king sized tempur pedic bed and I know it's going to get some action. The thing I'm concerned about is due to the material, I would prefer to keep this dry (as it will probably get wet from sex, spills, whatever). Is there some sort of protective cover out there I can put on this that will keep the mattress safe but will also not make it feel like I'm sleeping on plastic?

I have to admit, morbid curiousity made me open this thread. You can get cloth mattress pads that go under the fitted sheet. Obviously not completely impermeable against spills, etc., but at least it provides an additional layer.
Of course, if you're going to worry about it that much, you could reserve the bed for sleeping and be creative about where you do everything else . . .

I just paid almost $3K for the matteress alone so I guess I'm paranoid about messing it up. I'd like to protect but not have it take away from how the bed feels.

Well we used one of those cotton mattress pads - purchased in anticipation of my then-infant daughter sleeping with us, which illustrates how we're at different points in our lives - and I don't think it changed the feel of the bed at all. Not perfect protection, but you'd need a pretty serious spill go get through the sheets and the pad to the bed.

they make waterproof mattress pads. Not as soft as a 400 thread count version, of course, but perhaps worth checking out.

When we bought our Tempur Pedic (which has since been returned, as we hated it), we were sold a protective, waterproof cover. The top part is waterproof, the sides are not. Unlike the example from the website you posted, ours is smooth, so as not to detract from the Tempur Pedic's particular feature.
