What's the acceptable range of shoes with a navy linen/cotton suit?

I'm in the process of getting a navy linen/cotton blend MTM for the office (no tie), some summer weddings (tie likely), and probably to wear as separates as well (with jeans/khakis/short-sleeve button ups, etc.). What does everyone think is an acceptable range of shoes to go with it, depending on the occasion: colors, styles, materials, sole thickness etc.?

I figure you could go from nicer brown/walnut wingtips all the way to canvas slip-ons or boat shoes... what do you like with linen/cotton in general if not navy specifically?

You could also consider a pair of cordovan penny loafers or a pair of dirty bucks.

Why on earth would you wear a non-leather shoe? The closest I would come is a linen/leather spectator.

I dunno, to boldly stretch the limits of men's fashion and usher in a new era? Or, you know, just because.

Just looking for some ideas for interesting linen/casual shoe pairings. I don't buy suits very often and i want to get a lot of mileage out of this one since it has a more casual fabric and can be worn easily as seperates.

I have a navy cotton/linen suit. I think it looks best with tan to medium-tan leather shoes.

I love the looks of these and spectators when on display, but I never, ever see anyone actually wearing them and like them. I think they look too costumey.

Very ol' South gentleman...

Difficult to pull off when you live in a English Victorian seaside town...
