You carry this on your person? Doesn't it get bulky/cumbersome?
It was designed as an inner breast pocket wallet.

    It's actually rather slim.

Nothing personal, but every time I'm behind someone writing a check I imagine what a 50 caliber round would do to their skull. Do they use Victrolas and quills as well?

At any rate, after that unpleasantness, in my wallet I carry a debit card, private health insurance card, drivers licence, government health card and a little money.

I've put a 50 cal through armoured plate, so I'm not that extreme, but I can't stand waiting for people to fiddle with the card reader, then screw up their PIN, or enter debit when they want credit. I write a check faster than 90% of people check out with cards.

(Oh, yeah, I do write all of my personal coorespondence with a dip pen, admittedly mother of pearl, not goose.)

    Regards,
    Huntsman

I also hate it when someone pulls out a checkbook when I am waiting behind them in line. It's not the check writer that bothers me, however, as they generally do not take that long to fill out the check. It's the drawn-out rigamarole that the cashier goes through to process the check that steams me. I'm impatient, however, so its really my problem, not theirs.

It has nothing to do with being stuck up. Cheque writers always seem to take forever to finish the damned thing. Hey, why show up -- knowing that you're going write a cheque -- without having the date, the name of the store you're writing the cheque to and your signature already filled in? Don't worry! Everyone will wait behind you while you figure out what date it is. We have time! I mean, you did just walk into the grocery store and fill up a cart on a lark after all... Yes, I've been behind people who suddenly forgot how to use their debit and credit cards, but nowhere near the number of times that cheque writers breezily do their thing while waves of hate roll off the people behind them who just want to leave the damned store. If that makes me stuck up, then I happily accept the honour. If you think I'm hard on this issue, you should hear me rant about the asses in the world that haven't figured out that using the signal lights on their cars isn't optional.

I hate that too. Passionately. Nothing worse than waiting for some car when you want to pull out and then they turn. Lovely.

That's what I love about this place. A cheque writer and a cheque hater -- the Israel and Hezbollah of Styleforum -- can agree like brothers on an issue [IMG]

speaking of checks [IMG] i have a question:

where i live, if you pay with a personal check, you'd probably be laughed at. there are a lot of scoundrels out there who issue bad checks or worse, forged checks. how does the payment of personal check in the united states be considered a safe method of payment?

Driver's license, work ID, credit card, back-up credit card, debit card, insurance card, and a folded up C note. I only carry a small card case, so that I can keep it in my front pocket, which is a lot more comfortable to me.

    I don't use a wallet, I use a slim leather cards/cash clip... So I carry cash, Amex/Visa, drivers license

I use a similar devise with a Mastercard, debit card, DL, Insurance Card, BJs card and a few extra business cards. Most of my business cards live in a specific case. I also have a travel wallet that houses all of my airline/hotel/car rental etc cards.
