The Economist depth in current events and writing style, Monocle presentation & superficial features, and GQ for fashion.

I don't see the point of reading men's magazines. Seriously, what can you learn from them?

I'm perfectly satisfied with The Economist and WSJ.

I like the pretty pictures.

Also, there is no point to reading WSJ. The depth of FOx News with line drawings.

I get WSJ free and so I read at breakfast. But what you're saying about it is mostly true.

Although I read GQ and usually enjoy it, the fashion in it seems so sparse that I sometimes miss them when I get to the end.

The antithesis of most of what can be found on newsstands.

I actually like the US Esquire. Well-designed without the ridiculous number of ads GQ used to have (and may still).

The fashion bits are basically irrelevant to my life (in terms of style and cost) but the rest is spot on for light reading. Maybe a bit more arts coverage (ie more music/film/etc..), but I have other magazines for that.

I'm not sure why none of the men's mags have devoted a page or two to covering offerings (watches, shoes, etc.) even down into standard SF prices. Another page of $3-5k watches this month? Really? Why not cover the many interesting watches under a grand - even under two bills? Give Seiko automatics a little more recognition in the US.
